1970 Ford Torino Cobra Sports Roof, Yellow/Black, 27,150 Miles
Up For Sale Is My Nice 1970 Ford Torino Cobra "N-Code" With The 429 Cobra 8 Cylinder And A C-6 Automatic Transmission. To The Best Of My Knowledge I Am At Least The Third Owner Of This Car, Possibly The Fourth. I Have Owned The Car For 12 Years And During That Time Have Thrown Tons Of Time And Money Into This Baby. I Have Most Of The Paperwork And Receipts To Back All Of The Work I Have Done Or Had Done, And Even Some Paperwork From The Previous Owner. The Car Runs Great And Fast! There Is A Lot To List Of What Has Been Done To This Classic Muscle Car So I Will Try To Fit It All In Here. If You Are Curious About Anything Though, Please ASK QUESTIONS.
Okay, Here Goes:
-New Sheet Metal On Both Sides (Rear Quarter Panels), Metal Ordered From Auto Krafters Fairlane/Torino Catalog, And Professionally Welded By Custom Metal Works Co., St. Louis, MO.
-Rear Glass Has Been Removed, The Metal Underneath Repaired, Glass Reinstalled And Resealed
-Gas Tank Removed From Trunk Cleaned, Repainted.
-Trunk Rust Removed, Trunk Resealed With Factory Tar, And Repainted. Gas Tank Reinstalled.
-Recent Paint On Taillight Trim Covers (Correct Flat Black)
-New Air Shock Hoses Installed, Filler Nipple In Trunk.
-Body Work/Putty Performed Over New Metal On Quarter Panels, And On A Few Other Dings On The Car, Looks Good.
-Previous Owner Removed Factory 4-Speed (Toploader Tranny, I'm Guessing) And Installed C-6 Auto, With High Stall Torque Converter And A B/M Shift Kit. I Decided Not To Change This Back To Original Because I Liked The Way The C-6 Performed. Manual Could Be Replaced However If You Choose, And The Clutch Pedal Is Still Intact (Just Non-Functioning Right Now.) This Would Most Definitely Make The Car More Valuable.
-New Rebuild On The Holley 780 Cfm 4bbl Carb.
-New Transmission Linkage
-Both Front Bucket Seats Have Had All Vinyl Repaired/ Restitched.
-All Door Panels And Window Regulators In Great Working Order.
-New Drivers Side Armrest.
-Headliner Is Original And In Great Shape.
-New Dome Light And Bezel.
-Engine Was Completely Rebuilt Professionally Here In St. Louis By Mikes Automotive And Engine Repair In 2004. New Crank, Valves, Lifters, Rings, Gaskets, Water Pump, Everything. I Even Upgraded The Push Rods To Competition Cam Racing Rods, (Very Strong).
-New Pioneer 6x9 3 Way Speakers.
-After Market "Vector, Like The Dukes Of Hazzard" Style Wheels.
-New Complete Stainless Exhaust System, With Correct Stainless/Chrome Exhaust Tips, And Hard To Find Ford 429 High Flow Exhaust Manifolds.
-Older Complete Scraping, Rust Coating, And Painting Of Underside Of Car.
-New Professional Paint Job, Color: Sun Yellow. The Flat Black Hood Has Also Been Newly Painted And Done Beautifully!
-There Is A Long List Of Smaller Parts That Are All New As Well;
-Plugs
-Distributor Cap (Car Has Marine Distributor)
-Rotor
-Brake Rotors, Pads
-Power Steering Cylinder And Lines
-Tie Rod
-Master Cylinder
-Correct 1970 “Cobra Snake Decals On Both Fenders And Rear Panel.
-All Preventative Maintenances Done As Well
-Car Just Recently Passed State Inspection.
There Are A Few BAD Items About The Car, And I Will List Them For You:
-Car Has Incorrect Steering Column. It Is From A Automatic Torino With Blue Interior. It Does Not Match Because The Car Was An Original 4-Speed With Black Interior.
-AC Compressor Has Been Removed (This May Not Be A Con For Most Of You)
-Carpet Is Slightly Sun Faded, I Treated It With A Can Of That Carpet Recolor Paint A While Back And It Looked Good, But Will Probably Need It Again.
-There Is An Approximately 2 Square Foot Spot On The Roof Where There Has Been Some Body Work Done And The Paint Has Spider-Webbed. The Paint And Body Man Had Originally Thought That He Could Use A Sealant On This To Fill It And Then Paint Over It. Well The Splitting Of The Paint Was Deeper Than He Thought And It Shows Through To The New Paint. The Spot IS Sealed And Will Not Allow Water Under The New Paint, But The Body Man Estimated His Cost To Repair And Repaint This Spot To Be About $800. So Keep That In Mind, But Other Than That Damaged Area The Paint Looks Nice. The Paint Job Is A Year Old Now, And I Do Drive The Car So There Are A Few Small Rock Chips From Normal Use, But Nothing Major.
- There Is A 6 Inch By 6 Inch Chunk Of The Grille That Has Been Cracked From A Mechanic Leaning On It. I JB Welded The Section Back On The Grill And Then Painted The Entire Grille Flat Black. Unfortunately The Mechanic Leaned On It Again And Broke Off The Same Piece. So The Car Will Eventually Need A Grille.
Thank You For Looking, If You Have Any Questions Please Ask And I Will Respond In A Timely Manner. Please Look Over My Pictures. The Car Is Beautiful, But Not A Show Car. A Show Torino Cobra Would Easily Be Twice As Much Or More. I Would Say For About $4000 More You Could Have It A Show Car With A 4-Speed Transmission. Or You Could Drive It Just The Way It Is.
How much will it cost to insure a Ford Torino?
