1962 Jaguar XKE Convertible 3.8 Liter 265hp 6 Cylinder 4 Speed Manual Transmission With Triple SU Carbs SS Exhaust, Professional Restoration Completed In 2003, 1,600 Miles Since Then, All Photos, Documentation And Receipts Of Restoration Included Along With Tool Kit, Warranty Book And 3.8 Series Manual. 1962 Jaguar XKE Convertible 3.8 Liter 265hp 8 Cylinder 4 Speed Manual Transmission With Triple SU Carbs SS Exhaust, Professional Restoration Completed In 2003, 1,600 Miles Since Then, All Photos, Documentation And Receipts Of Restoration Included Along With Tool Kit, Warranty Book And 3.8 Series Manual. With The 3.8 Liter E Type, The Shape Was Not Only Stylish, But Calculated Mathematically For Aero Dynamic Efficiency. It Was Constructed In Stressed Steel Shell With An All Steel Monocoque Design. You Remember Your First Sight Of This Cat! I Bought This Early Production (March) 1962 E Type In April Of 1980. I Did A Professional And Comprehensive Restoration To Original Starting In Spring Of 2001 And Completed The Project In July Of 2003. The Restoration Included A Complete Disassembly Of The Car. The Body Was Stripped To Metal, Where We Found A Spot On Rust In Front Of The Passenger Rear Wheel. Because Of That, We Removed The Rocker Panels To Check The Sub Structure (The Area Where Jaguar Was Notorious For Rotting). The Sub Structure Was Perfect. We Prepared The Metal Finish, Primed The Body, Sealed All Joints And Painted It Bright White. The 265 Horsepower Twin Overhead Camshaft Engine Was Rebuilt, Painted Original Color And All Aluminum Was Polished. During Rebuilding It Was Revealed That The Heads Of This Engine Were From The Race Department At Jaguar Because They Were Ported And Polished. During Early Production Of The E Type, Demand Was So High That They Could Not Manufacture Parts Quickly Enough, So Whatever Was Around The Jaguar Factory, Was Used To Get The Cars Out. The Independent Front And Rear Suspension (Springs, Shocks, Bushings, Etc) Were Replaced. The Brake System Was Completely Replaced (Master Cylinder, Servo, Calapurs, Rotors And Lines). The Transmission (Original Four Speed Sync 2nd Through 4th) Was Reworked By A Professional Co. In Woodland, CA. The Clutch Was Replaced And The Drive Train Including The Rear End Was Reworked. The Triple SU Carburetors Were Rebuilt Along With A New Gas Tank, Sending Unit And Fuel Lines. The Cooling System Has The Original Radiator That Was Disassembled, Cleaned And Reassembled With All New Hoses And The Electric Fan Motor. I Added An Additional Electrical Fan Inside The Front Scoop Attached To The Debris Screen. This Fan Can Be Turned On If Caught In Heavy Traffic During Summer Months. Complete Wire Harness And Rubber Kit Was Installed. A Stainless Steel Exhaust System Was Fitted At The Completion. The Entire Red Connolly Leather Interior Was Purchased In September Of 1987 And Saved Until Restoration Was Complete. All Photos, Documentation, Receipts Of Restoration Are Included Along With Tool Kit, Warranty Book And A 3.8 Series Manual. This Is A Beautiful Driving Automobile, Especially While Touring In The 70 To 80 Mile Per Hour Range.
