1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, Silver/Red

1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 427 8 Cylinder, rebuilt 4 speed manual transmission with new Hurst Shifter, 12 bolt 3.31 Posi, power disc brakes. Original 138 car, body off restoration and rebuilt 4 speed. 427.060 over, aluminum heads, roller tip rockers, 10.25 compression, forged pistons, Competition Cams, True Roller timing chain, Performer RPM intake, Speed Demon carb, balanced, dynoed, uses pump gas, many more details, 1000 miles after rebuild, the odometer states 29,873 miles, original unknown, and has been garage kept, runs and drives great. Also has power steering and power brakes.

I have print photos of the body off restoration. One rear quarter had been replaced. All other body panels are original. The Rally wheels, trim rings, and center caps are new. I built the engine personally. I have been an ASE Master Tech for 26 years. I have an Associates Degree in Automotive Technology from 1983. During this time I have built approximately 40 engines. Performance gasoline and diesel.

Engine was built in May of this year and has about 1000 miles.

Bearing clearances, ring and gap, piston to valve clearances were checked.

All torques to specification including proper stretching of new rod bolts. Factory valve timing with proper cam break-in.

Block: 454 2 bolt mains, bored .060, (440 cu. in with 396/ 427 crank) baked, cleaned, magnufluxed, line bore checked and polished, cam bearings, freeze plugs, Mellings high volume oil pump.

Crank: 396 cast, cleaned, magnufluxed, machined .010 -.010, chamfered and polished.

Rods: GM 3/8 pressed pin, resized with ARP rod bolts.

Pistons: Speed Pro forged 10.25/ 1, chrome molly rings

Heads: new assembled Pro Series aluminum, 300cc oval ports, 119cc open chamber, 2.19 intake- 1.88 exhaust, valve seating rechecked and proper springs installed with proper pressures and heights for cam, ARP head bolts, Dart adj. guide plates & studs, Comp Cams roller tip rockers

Camshaft: Comp Cams 11-250-3 hydraulic & lifters, .574 / .578 lift, 284 / 296 duration, 240 / 246 @ .050

Timing chain: Cloyes True Roller with button

Intake / carb: both new, Edelbrock Performer Plus, Barry Grant 750 Speed Demon, rejetted when dynoed

Ignition: both new MSD Blaster Coil, MSD Pro Billet Ready to Run distributor

Exhaust: factory manifolds, 2 1/2" dual exhaust with balance tubes, Flo-Master mufflers

Transmission: rebuilt Saginaw with new Hurst Competition Plus Shifter

Rear axle: used, inspected, good condition 12 bolt 3:31 posi

Block work was done Manchester Engine Rebuilders who I have dealt with over 20 years.

All other above machine work also including balancing and dyno work was done at Performance Specialties. Doc Bilbrey who owns the business does machine work for quite a few NHRA race teams.

Dyno results: 390 hp & 430 ft-lbs torque at flywheel, engine was tested with manifolds, mufflers and pipes.

Engine has nice cam sound at idle. Produces great low end power and torque thru 6000 RPM. Runs on pump gas with no detonation. The final compression ratio is 9.5-1. Great dependable street engine.
