1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible, Hemi Orange/Black Top/Black

Here's a chance to purchase a truly spectacular car from private owner. To say restored would not do it justice, it has been restored then modified to be a one of a kind. 6,507 miles since total restoration in 2002. Original mileage is approx 100k

This rare 1970 Roadrunner convertible (one of 840 produced, fewer had buckets and air) original engine is 383, now powered by a date correct 440-6 pack engine. Same owner since 1983 and it has the type of detail that can only be achieved by a devoted enthusiast. This car has been in a constant state of evolution.

The car has been in many shows and never finished less than 1st in class. It has one Best of Show at (West Coast Mopar, Tampa FL 2001) and first place in B body stock (W.C.M. 2002 and 2003) and 1st in B body Modified (W.C.M. 2004). In 2003 and 2004 at Mopars with Big Daddy the car took 1st in class. Don Garlitss show has some of the finest cars in the Southeast. Other notable shows was Mopar at Merits (1st in class) and Peoples Choice Dunedin Fine Arts. The car first appeared in Mopar Muscle August 2002 and subsequently used again.

Modifications include 440-6 pack with correct crank, rods, heads etc. The cooling system has been upgraded with aluminum radiator, electric pump with twin fans. The electrical system has been upgraded chrome alternator, electronic MSD ignition and distributor. The cam has been upgraded and beautiful large headers connects to stainless exhaust system. The transmission is completely rebuilt with shift kit and deep pan. The 8 ¾ rear end is completely rebuilt with 4.10 gears. The car is very fast.

Its also a very comfortable street car. Just like everything else the heat and air systems were completely replaced during restoration and upgraded with Sanden compressor etc. The power steering box was upgraded to a firm feel box and cooler, and power disk brakes makes this car a joy to drive around town. The suspension also has been totally rebuilt with new hemi torsion bars, heavy duty sway bars, and polyurethane bushings through out the suspension and steering components. Frame connectors were also added to reduce body twist (bolted in, not welded). The interior and top has been done with the finest materials available including a glass rear window. All wiring harnesses, rubber pieces and lights have been replaced, a modern tachometer was grafted to the original face plate and needle. Everything works right down to the cigarette lighter.

The original numbers matching 383 is completely rebuilt, balanced, and has a mild cam. The 383 is included in the sale of the car and need to stay together. 2000 miles after restoration the 383 was taken out and the car was upgraded to the 440-6. The 383 was completely disassembled, cleaned and reassemble for storage. None of the modifications made to the car involve welding or cutting etc, the integrity of the originality was not compromised while making upgrades. Thanks for looking.
