CHASSIS: The chassis was constructed by ERA (New Bridge, Conn.) It is a stiffer, stronger chassis than the original chassis built and used by Shelby. The 427 E.R.A. chassis was designed from the ground up to handle the power and stresses unlike the original versions!
All the body supports are integrated into the basic design, and the suspension pickup points are the basis of the chassis design, not the other way around. Fiberglass and aluminum inner panels were used to stiffen the basic structure.

The chassis is strengthened and stiffened to reduce body shake, an important factor in an open car. This unique body structure is engineered to create a long-lived body that never gets stress cracks or surface distortion.

427 CUBIC INCH FORD ENGINE: The 427 Cubic Inch Engine has Dual Quad Carburetors and the engine was milled to have medium rise heads. The hotter camshaft adds an additional “80” Horsepower. Most notably: Tony Carry, (Considered to be the number #1 427 Engine fabricator/mechanic in the United States. He hails from Long Island) built this engine to meet higher Horse Power expectations. (517 HORSE POWER).

FRONT SUSPENSION: The E.R.A. 427 independent front suspension uses custom made tubular control arms in a non-parallel, unequal length configuration. Good camber gain and anti-dive are designed into the geometry. The suspension avoids the problems associated with using a donor car's pieces and geometry. In other words, it's correct for the car, not a compromise.

SHELBY AC COBRA / COMPETITION VERSION BODY: The BODY is constructed of high temperature "iso" tooling resin which is stronger, more resilient and much more sturdy than aluminum or fiberglass. The outer body is the unstressed outer shell of the car. The integration of the body interior panels and supporting frame creates a unique structure. On the road, the Cobra is rock-solid, without rattles, drumming, or shakes.

REAR SUSPENSION: The rear end Gear ratio is” “3:31:1” made from a Jaguar Salisbury rear end. (Jaguar XJ Based) The Jaguar-based independent rear suspension is carried in a unique tubular steel sub-frame. This design is stronger and can handle greater torque and g-force pressures than the original Cobra. This works with the stiffer chassis to produce a combination of excellent handling and smooth ride.

COCKPIT & DASH: The instrumentation in the cockpit is one of the many Competition configurations. Notice the on board fire extinguisher strapped to the fire wall. The black chairs are standard Cobra style and have the “five point racing harnesses” for each seat.

TRANSMISSION, BRAKES AND WHEELS: The gearbox is a ”Ford Top-loader 4 Speed”. For track use, we outfitted this Cobra with extra large front and rear brakes. The GOOD YEAR EAGLE racing tires and hubs were specifically designed for no other car but the Shelby Cobra. With 0-60 MPH under 3.7 seconds, and 11 second quarter mile performance, you'll know exactly what it's like to drive a “true American Muscle car legend”.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES: Racing-style quick-jack bumpers (4) and mounting hardware, Engine Compartment 427 FE headers and side pipes, Throttle pedal and linkage assembly, Large capacity aluminum radiator and dual electric fans, Wiring harness with fuse box and starter solenoid, Electrical relays for all accessories (headlights, taillights, wiper motor, fuel pumps, CD Player, etc.) Fuel System, 20-gallon fuel cell with filler neck, LeMans "flip-up" cap, pickups, twin electric pumps and 3/8-inch lines to engine compartment, Suspension, Brakes and Steering aluminum-Salisbury differential housing. The outer body is the unstressed outer shell of the car. Because it carries no supporting loads, the body will remain straight and stress-crack-free for a long, long, time.
