1947 “Willy’s” 4X4 Street Rod
This 1947 Willy’s is complete with a 1952 hood and grill. Under the hood is a 350 Chev with 16,000 miles. The motor sports 9 to 1 flat top pistons. The turbo 350 trans has been freshly rebuilt with 1,500 miles and dana 44 axles. The frame was boxed in to accommodate the extra horse power along with Chevy leaf springs. The front fenders are widened 5 ½ in. to cover the 15 x 35 in. BFG Tires, and the box was duplicated because the old one was bent beyond repair. The interior has bench seats from a van with the seat belts attached to the seat. The OAK woodwork is custom made and the instruments are VDO antique gauges. The color is Fords Chrome YELLOW. There are a few chips in the rear fenders from stones that the big tires threw up.
Everything works great! It could be a daily driver or used for parades. That’s how we used it. The decals on the doors are just decals and will come off easily.
This Willy’s draws attention whenever it’s driven or parked. Folks are always giving the “thumbs up” in show of approval. I’ve been told by others that people look at it even if they’re not “vehicle people”, so it must speak for itself.
It is now time for someone else to make it their own and do additional custom work to it if so desired. There is always room for that, but the initial hard work is done.
